The Judicial Friends Association, Inc. (JFA) is an organization founded in 1976 by local, state and federal African-American judges in the State of New York committed to achieving social and racial justice through law and service to the community.
To advance these aims, the Judicial Friends Association mentors law students, and offers an annual summer internship program.

The Judicial Friends Association Summer Internship Program is an eight (8) week full-time judicial internship position. The program begins on Monday, June 15th, 2026, and continues until Friday, August 7th, 2026, with an option to extend the length of internship if necessary to meet school program requirements. The intern will receive a $4,000.00 stipend. The program places an exceptional first or second year law student with judges in various New York City courts and provides an opportunity for the intern to gain valuable legal experience inside of their judges’ chambers and courtrooms.
The intern is expected to work forty (40) hours per week, Monday through Friday.n The intern will assist in drafting legal decisions and orders, observe courtroom conferences, hearings, appellate arguments and/or trials, attend lectures regarding various legal topics and gain a better understanding of the court system from the unique perspective of a judge and his or her staff.
Current 1L or 2L law students enrolled in a Juris Doctor program at an ABA accredited law school.
